The Sadak Suraksha Mitra (SSM) Training Program, scheduled from 16–18 March 2026, is designed to strengthen the capacity of selected youth volunteers to support road safety initiatives at the district level. As outlined in the program framework, the training will combine structured classroom sessions, practical exercises, and field exposure to build a comprehensive understanding of road safety practices and community engagement.
The program will focus on building knowledge of road safety governance mechanisms, crash scene coordination, and application-based reporting systems, including the Sanjaya Application and the Field Perception Survey (FPS) platform. Participants will also undergo training in Basic Trauma Life Support and the fundamentals of Road Safety Audit, enabling them to understand key aspects of emergency response and road infrastructure safety assessment.
The first day of the workshop will establish a common foundation on road safety principles, governance structures, and digital reporting tools. The subsequent sessions will include field-based crash site coordination training, roleplay-based scenario exercises, and specialized Road Safety Audit and crash investigation activities for technical volunteers.
The program will also cover awareness strategy planning, District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) coordination mechanisms, and evaluation of volunteer learning outcomes. Through this integrated training approach, the initiative aims to develop a trained and nationally aligned cohort of Sadak Suraksha Mitra volunteers capable of supporting district road safety committees, awareness campaigns, crash response coordination, and data-driven road safety monitoring, thereby strengthening community participation in India’s road safety ecosystem.
