Overview of the Programme
The Simulator Based Capacity Building Program on Road Safety was organized by the Centre of Excellence for Road Safety (CoERS), IIT Madras to strengthen road safety awareness and practical driving behaviour among participants through simulation-based learning.
The programme utilized advanced driving simulators to demonstrate real-world road scenarios and highlight the importance of safe driving practices. By replicating complex traffic environments in a controlled setting, the training enabled participants to better understand driver behaviour, risk perception, and the consequences of unsafe driving practices.
This initiative forms part of CoERS’s broader effort to promote evidence-based training and capacity building in road safety, supporting the development of safer road users and improved traffic systems.

Simulator-Based Training for Safer Driving Behaviour and Road Safety Awareness
Event Description
This one-day programme focused on interactive simulator-based training sessions designed to improve participants’ understanding of road safety principles and responsible driving behaviour.
Through structured simulation exercises, participants experienced various traffic situations and learned how safe decision-making can prevent crashes. The programme also included introductory addresses, practical simulator sessions, participant feedback, and a concluding session summarizing the key learnings from the training.
The training aimed to demonstrate how simulation technology can be used as an effective tool for road safety education and driver capacity building.
