Road Safety Hackathon 2026

March 11

The Road Safety Hackathon 2026, organized by Centre of Excellence for Road Safety and RBG Labs at Indian Institute of Technology Madras, builds upon the strong foundation laid in previous editions and continues to advance the transformative theme of “AI in Road Safety.”

The 2026 edition aims to catalyze next-generation, technology-driven solutions that leverage artificial intelligence, data analytics, computer vision, predictive modeling, and intelligent enforcement systems to address emerging road safety challenges across India. With a clear focus on scalable, evidence-based, and implementation-ready innovations, the hackathon brings together students, researchers, startups, enforcement agencies, and policymakers to collaboratively design impactful solutions that can be integrated into real-world governance frameworks.

Problem Statements

DriveLegal

DriveLegal provides location-specific information on traffic laws, violations, and fine schedules. The platform integrates national rules with state and local enforcement regulations, helping road users better understand legal requirements and improve compliance with road safety laws.

RoadWatch

RoadWatch enables citizens to monitor road quality, track public spending on road infrastructure, and report issues to the responsible authorities. The platform promotes transparency, accountability, and community participation in maintaining safe road infrastructure.

RoadSoS

RoadSoS provides location-based access to nearby trauma centres, ambulance services, vehicle rescue services, police stations, and emergency contacts during road accidents. The tool is designed to reduce emergency response time and improve access to life-saving assistance.
