With deep expertise in engineering design, data science, and applied artificial intelligence, IIT Madras and CoERS are uniquely positioned to lead national and international efforts in deploying scalable, data-driven road safety solutions.

The Imperative for Artificial Intelligence in Road Safety

Road safety challenges in India arise from a complex interplay of diverse road conditions, heterogeneous traffic patterns, human behavioural factors, and vehicle dynamics. Conventional road safety approaches, while valuable, often struggle to keep pace with the scale, speed, and complexity of these evolving challenges.

Artificial Intelligence offers a transformative pathway through its capabilities in large-scale data analysis, pattern recognition, predictive modelling, and real-time decision-making.

Objectives of the AI for Road Safety Summit

  • Igniting Innovation: Inspire students, researchers, startups, and innovators to develop AI solutions tailored to Indiaโ€™s road safety context.
  • Knowledge Exchange: Facilitate dialogue among policymakers, officials, experts, researchers, and practitioners.
  • Ecosystem Building: Strengthen collaboration across government, industry, academia, and startups to accelerate deployment of AI technologies.
