Centre for Excellence for Road Safety (CoERS) at IIT Madras and Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI) is organising a hackathon to develop a system to improve road safety. If you are an engineering student at IITM who is concerned with improving road safety conditions in India, grab the opportunity to make a difference.
As per the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, a total of 4,61,312 road accidents were reported in 2022 leading to 1,68,491 fatalities and 4,43,366 injuries. This represents a 11.9% increase in accidents, a 9.4% increase in fatalities and a 15.3% increase in injuries from the previous year. The challenge is to bring down the accident rates on India’s roads using disruptive and innovative ideas. CoERS, IIT Madras and MBRDI are looking for ideas from young and bright problem solvers like you which must fall under the following theme:
The contestants shall present their ideas through an abstract not exceeding 300 words in the format attached below and fill the form below before 1 November 2024. In case of any queries, please write to rsideathon@rbg.iitm.ac.in.

Participants have to be teams of 2-3 students from IIT Madras of B.Tech, Dual Degree Programme, or M.Tech at IIT Madras.
