Train-the-trainer workshop on data collection techniques to review posted speed limits was organised for quality assurance in assessing speed limits. CoERS conducted a three-day Training Program from May 15 to 17, 2023 at Haryana Police Academy, Madhuban, Haryana. A total of 94 participants from the Department of Police and National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) were trained. The Haryana Transport Department organised the program to take this initiative of data collection to set up speed limits. The Madras Matrix outlines the specific criteria, metrics, and regulatory requirements for evaluating posted speed limits, necessitating a comprehensive training programme. The workshop ensures trainers possess in-depth knowledge of the matrix’s intricacies, enabling them to educate data collectors effectively. The training ensures consistency and accuracy in assessing speed limits across diverse locations. A session on spot speed study and traffic volume count were conducted. The steps involved in the study such as location selection, equipment setup, defining the counting period, method of counting, monitoring, and recording were discussed.
